Along with Charles Mingus – with whom he recorded ten albums between 1958 and 1961 – Booker Ervin is one of the great saxophonists of his generation. “That’s It!” is Ervin’s third appearance as a bandleader. The sessions are influenced by Ervin’s time with Mingus’ Jazz Workshop, and indeed Mingus is quoted extensively in the album’s liner notes, praising the saxophonist highly. This brand new reissue of the 1961 album is available on CD and LP and has been remastered from the original Candid Records master tapes by Bernie Grundman.
