Hüsker Dü – Eight Miles High 7″

Released in 1984, Husker Du have a crack at covering the Byrds’ ‘Eight Miles High’. While the original is a classic 60’s pop song, this scribe prefers Husker Du’s noisier take on it (no surprise there I guess). ‘Masochism World’ is possibly even better. A live version of a song that would not long after appear on the ‘Zen Arcade’ LP. Like all the best Husker Du songs it’s a perfect mix of noise, great lyrics, catchy pop hooks with just the right touch of punk aggression.
