Chas Chandler, ex-member of The Animals and the Entrepreneurs, brought Hendrix to the UK and introduced him to drummer Mitch Mitchell and bassist Noel Redding. Recording of “Are You Experienced” had begun in October 1966 and yielded a series of singles that acted as appetizers for the world-famous guitarist’s first album. During the recording sessions, the foundation was laid for the future working relationship between recording engineer Eddie Kramer and Hendrix. The Jimi Hendrix Experience’s debut album was originally released in mono and only on later pressings as “enhanced stereo”. The cover photo of the British version was taken by Bruce Flemming.
